Castelvetrano: Bio oil tasting and visit

This is an occasion for you to relax and spend time surrounded by nature and the mediterranean cuisine! Join this guided tour of the Case Latomie Farm in Castelvetrano where the absolute protagonist will be olive oil!

Since 1953, this company has dedicated a space place in its business to olive trees investing itself in biological agriculture. The scenery is really suggestive. You will see centuries-old olive trees and verdant citrus groves among the ancient Latomie which are the mines where the ancient inhabitants of Selinunte, about 2600 years ago, would take the calcareous tuff to build their cities.

The visit will start with a walk through the olive trees in order to get at the Latomie. You will be explained the methods the company uses to grow olive trees and how they tend to them, pruning and harvesting techniques. During harvest season (October and November) you will also have the chance to visit the olive oil mill where you will be able to see some of the phases of the olive pressing and oil production.

At the end of the visit a tasting of typical products will be waiting for you. You will taste oil, the typical black bread of Castelvetrano, bruschetta of red pesto, soft and more aged cheeses served with different jams produced in the company, flavoured and pickled olives, water and locally produced wine.
