Cefalù is a beautiful gem rich in history, art, and legends, and especially one of the best places in Sicily to taste typical Sicilian street food!
Get ready for an exciting walking tour through the charming streets of the town, which will offer you a historical overview of Cefalù, a small town but with an incredible mix of culture, ancient legends, and culinary delights! You will meet your local guide in Piazza Cristoforo Colombo, the main square on the seafront in Cefalù. After a few historical notes about the city, you’ll cross the beautiful seafront to reach Via Gioeni, where you will taste the famous "Ca Meusa" sandwich (a sandwich with spleen), a must-try dish in the Palermo area!
After this delicious stop, the next stop will be the visit to the medieval washhouse that hosts the mouth of the Cefalino River, once used by washerwomen to clean clothes. Then, you’ll head towards Porta Marina, the only one of the 4 historical gates that has remained intact, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea! After admiring the Bastione tower and the Giudecca, the historic neighborhood where the fishermen of Cefalù used to live, you will delight your palate with a tasting of Panelle and Crocchè, fried dishes that are a must in Palermo cuisine!
The guide will then take you to Piazza Duomo, a UNESCO heritage site since 2015, where you will taste the queen of Palermo street food... the arancina!
You will then walk through a neighborhood characterized by alleys and narrow streets leading you right under the Rocca, ending at the historic fortified palace Osterio Magno. There, you will enjoy the traditional Palermo Sfincione, a high, soft dough focaccia with an irresistible topping!
If you think something is still missing... you’re right! The last stop on the Cefalù street food tour will surely feature the ricotta cannoli, undoubtedly the most famous Sicilian dessert in the world!
