Alcantara Valley Route. You will have the chance to admire one of the most fascinating places in the entire Etna area. On the ATVs, you will depart from the Alcantara Gorges towards Francavilla di Sicilia, driving along a dirt road. The landscape is impressive and charming. Over the millennia, the cold and rugged waters of the Alcantara River have eroded what was once a powerful lava flow, creating a canyon-like landscape.
Etna Route. Starting from the Alcantara Gorges, you will reach an altitude of 1850 meters. Driving on dirt roads and naturalistic trails, you will reach Castiglione di Sicilia, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the valley.
You will continue towards Linguaglossa through bike paths, where you can admire the farthest crater from the Etna system: the Vulcanetto of Moio Alcantara. You will pass through numerous lava flows from eruptions that occurred at different times. Inside the forest, you will find a cave built from lava stone, very fascinating, before reaching Piano Provenzana. Nature enthusiasts can continue the excursion by leaving the quads behind and walking with a guide, who will take the group to visit the craters formed during the 2002 eruption.
This excursion will last about an extra hour and a half.
For the Etna route, there are only 2 departure times: 9:00 or 14:00.Montagna Grande Route. The entire route is on dirt roads. You will depart from the Alcantara Gorges towards Motta Camastra, to reach the summit of Montagna Grande. From here, you will enjoy a unique panorama, from the Aeolian Islands to the Calabrian coast, and a full view of the Alcantara River, from source to mouth.
On the return trip, you will stop at the small town of Motta Camastra, famous for its rugged geographical location. -
