Tour: One Week in Eastern Sicily

Do you want to visit Eastern Sicily and live its most exciting experiences? We have designed an itinerary for you to discover culture, traditions, art and flavors. You will visit the ancient vestiges of Syracuse, the magnificent Baroque city of Noto, Mt. Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, the fashionable and exclusive city of Taormina, the lively city of Catania and other lesser known treasures of Eastern Sicily.

PROGRAM:
Day 1 - Syracuse: Arrival and accommodation at a hotel in the city of Syracuse.
Day 2 - Syracuse, Noto and Marzamemi: The tour of Syracuse starts from the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, where you will also visit the ancient Greek Theater, the Latomie, and the Ear of Dionysus. Continue towards the historic center of Ortigia, the beating heart and oldest part of the city. The day continues with a visit to Noto, the capital of the Sicilian Baroque, full of majestic buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2002. Before returning to Syracuse, you will visit the seaside village of Marzamemi and its tuna-fishery.

Day 3 - Ragusa, Modica, Scicli and Ispica: Departure for Ragusa, a city full of majestic buildings such as the Cathedral of San Giorgio, scenic squares and imposing stairways. It continues with a visit to Modica, made up of picturesque houses and alleys and famous for the production of chocolate, still produced today according to the traditional recipe. The day ends with a visit to Scicli, a monumental baroque town with the look of a living nativity scene made famous thanks to the Camilleri TV series "Il Commissario Montalbano". Finally, a visit to the enchanting town of Ispica. In the evening, a return to Syracuse for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - Catania: Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Catania to visit the city and stay overnight. Over the centuries Catania has been the subject of various overthrows, destroyed and 7 times rebuilt following earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The historic city center is full of churches, as well as squares and monuments, such as Ursino Castle and Piazza del Duomo with its Elephant statue. It has been a UNESCO heritage site since 2002, thanks to its splendid Baroque buildings and monuments.

Day 5 - Taormina and Isola Bella: Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Taormina, forever sought as a destination for aristocrats, artists, and intellectuals who desiminate its immage of beauty and worldliness. Don't miss visiting Corso Umberto with Palazzo Corvaja, Porta Messina, Porta Catania, the Greek Theater and in the afternoon you can go down by cable car to the seafront of Taormina and visit Isola Bella, a nature reserve that became a Regional Naturalistic Museum of Isola Bella in 2011. In the afternoon, return to Catania for an overnight stay.

Day 6 - Etna and Alcantara Gorges: Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the Sapienza Refuge for a visit to Mount Etna, an active volcano that dominates the island at an altitude of 3,350 meters. In the afternoon, you will continue to the Alcantara Gorges, some up to 25 meters high. The Gorges are a real natural canyon. Originating from the cooling of ancient lava flows, today they are one of the world's truly unique sights.
