Street Food Tour in Syracuse

Treat yourself to a journey to discover authentic Sicilian street food.

• Blind and visually impaired: Support with detailed descriptions and the possibility to explore the market through touch and smell.

• People with mobility difficulties or motor disabilities: The route is planned to minimize architectural barriers, with accessible alternatives where necessary.
• Food allergies and dietary restrictions: Possibility to customize tastings according to specific needs (allergies, intolerances, vegetarian or vegan diets).

You will participate in a walking tour of Ortigia, during which you will visit the market and admire the most iconic monuments of the city.

Starting from the market, you will be fascinated by the colorful stalls of fruits, vegetables, and fresh fish, and the vendors who describe their products by singing and shouting!

You will continue towards the Temple of Apollo, one of the most important monuments of Ortigia and the oldest Doric stone temple in Sicily. You will pass by the beautiful Fountain of Artemis and finally reach the Piazza del Duomo of Syracuse, built on the highest part of the island, on what was once a temple dedicated to Athena.

During the street food experience, you will make 5 stops where you will taste various products that will leave a lasting impression, such as a platter with cured meats, cheeses, bruschetta, and a glass of wine; a sandwich tasting, Sicilian almond pastries, fried pizza with tuma cheese and anchovies, pieces of rotisserie like arancini with ragù; a glass of beer. The experience will end with the tasting of the typical Sicilian street food dessert, the cannoli with ricotta cream!

Street food in cities like Catania, Palermo, and Syracuse has been a true cult for years: street food, available at all hours, drawing hungry locals to populate the historic centers of the main cities.
