You will start from Rifugio Sapienza (Nicolosi - Etna South) by cable car, and in just 15 minutes, you will reach 2504 m. During the ascent, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lava landscapes surrounding Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe.
If you wish to reach the Torre del Filosofo area at 2920 meters, you will be transported by a 4X4 bus and accompanied by a mountain guide.
In the winter season, when the snow is high, the excursion to Torre del Filosofo is done using a Snowcat.You can choose between two purchase options:
- Round-trip Cable Car Ticket - to reach 2504 m from Rifugio Sapienza. The service operates from 9:00 AM to 3:45 PM (4:45 PM in the summer season). Duration: 30 minutes by Cable Car only.
- Tour to 2920 meters, Torre del Filosofo - in addition to the cable car ride (included), you will reach the spectacular Central Craters area by special off-road vehicles, with a dedicated mountain guide. Suspended above the sea, you will enjoy a breathtaking and unique view of the world. You will discover the true nature of Etna. Duration: approximately 2 hours for the tour to 2920 m, operating from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Tour suitable for adults and children. The excursion is strictly prohibited for people with heart conditions, asthma, and high blood pressure.

Equipment
- It is strongly advised to wear comfortable clothes, wind stopper and sporting shoes (tennis or trekking shoes). It is possible to rent trekking shoes and wind stopper jackets at an altitude of 2.500 meters.

How to reach us
- Funivia dell'Etna, Piazzale del Rifugio Sapienza, Nicolosi, Etna Sud (Catania). Once you reach the ticket office, go to the "Funivie dell'Etna" offices (the door on the right). Showing your printed booking voucher you will receive the ticket for your Etna's trip. If you have booked the tour up to 2900 mt, you will meet your guide directly after the off road tour.
- Private transfer: it is possible to organise a private transfer upon request. the driver will wait for through the entire duration of the activity. Please, contact us for a personalised estimate.

Booking terms and conditions
- It is required an advanced payment of the total amount. When the booking is completed, you will receive a voucher via e-mail that must be printed out and that you will need to bring the day of your experience. Any kind of voucher in digital form will not be accepted, therefore you will not be able to participate in the tour.

- People affected by cardiopathic diseases, ashtma and hypertension are not allowed on tour.
- There are no age limits for children.
- This tour can be modified or cancelled following the unappealable decision of the organizer barring exceptional circumstances such as: bad weather conditions, alteration of the state of roads, rock-falls, landslides, flooding on a part or on the total area of the paths, bad medical conditions of one or more participants, unfavourable volcanic conditions.
