1 Week Tour: Sicily Trekking Tour

Are you thinking of spending a full week hiking and exploring the wild life of the Etna Volcano, the Nebrodi's, Pantalica and the Vendicari reserve? Do not worry, you will have only to follow an expert naturalistic guide that will bring you to the most beautiful tracks. Enjoy the landscapes and activate your legs!

Day 1 - Arrival at Catania’s Airport. Transfer to the accommodation facilities in Catania.
Day 2: Etna Tour with wine tasting and visit to Taormina.
guided tour on the Etna’s Northern side to see some typical lava tunnels and enjoy a wine tasting.
First stop Fornazzo, then you will reach the "Mareneve" road that leads to the Piano Provenzana Etna Nord. Visit to the “Cave della Neve", a typical example of a lava tunnel, and final stop to see the Monti Sartorious and the 1865’s eruption remains. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a light lunch with local products at a winery followed by a wine tasting. After the tasting, you will have two hours to visit Taormina with its shops, historic buildings and the Greek theatre.
Day 3: Visit of the Etna’s craters.
Tour to 2,900 metres on the Etna’s Southern side with cable car, off-road vehicle and mountain guide.
Departure: 8:30 am pick-up at the hotel. Return is scheduled at 3:00 pm.
Tour schedule: transfer to the Rifugio Sapienza, our tour starting point. From there, via cable car, you will arrive in 20 minutes at an altitude of 2504 metres in order to watch the lava flows that characterize the Etna’s landscape. After that you will reach an altitude of 2900 metres by off-road vehicle. From there an experienced guide will take you to the Central Craters where you will enjoy a breathtaking view. Back to Catania, you will be served lunch based on fish.     Free afternoon.
Day 4: The necropolis of Pantalica and its limestone canyons.
You will discover the evocative limestone canyons that surround the several streams of water, lush vegetation and vertical cliffs dotted with about 5,000 stone-built tombs. A scenic trail will take you through the ancient pre-Hellenic and Byzantine settlements and to the Bat Cave. The lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
Day 5: Off-road vehicle tour and trekking on the Nebrodi Mounts.
Off-road vehicle tour and trekking activity to explore the lakes and forests in the Nebrodi Park.
Along scenic and off-road routes, you will enjoy a unique view, the lush vegetation, the lakes and certain species of wild animals. The off-roar vehicle tour can be alternated with some trekking activity depending on your preferences and level of preparation.
Stop to a local farm for lunch.
Day 6: Vendicari and Noto.
Hiking and bird watching activity in the UNESCO reserve. Visit to discover the Sicilian Baroque in the town of Noto.
Tour schedule: enjoy a tour surrounded by the breathtaking natural settings of UNESCO site the Vendicari Nature Reserve. Birdwatchers will love the passage of several migratory birds. The path winds through both sandy and rocky roads leading to the local salt tanks with their typical flora and unique landscapes. You will also visit some ancient buildings and archaeological remains such as the old fish processing plant and the Swabian Tower. In the afternoon you will visit  Noto, the Sicilian Baroque Capital to discover its monuments, churches and bakeries. Lunch is served in a local restaurant.
Day 7: Departure. Pick up at the hotel and transfer to Catania’s Airport.
